It’s over, but we still have the memories. I owe a HUGE thank you to all who came out to the grant writing workshop I hosted at the University of Detroit Mercy this past month. I have never met a more inspiring group of individuals, and I can’t wait to see where your new knowledge will take you. It is simply an honor for me to be apart of your story.
We took a journey through everything that is grant writing. Those who attended all four sessions are maybe thinking they know a little too much about grants, but don’t worry, there’s always more to learn about grants. Having a basis and working knowledge of grant writing will give you that competitive edge in the industry, and all of you have done such a service for yourselves and your organization by seeking this additional education. Grant writing is such a diverse and complicated field that can make or break organizations, so remember that I am always here to help. The passion in the room was palpable and truly an amazing thing to witness. It really has brought me a sense of hope in this unbelievable period of time in American history.
I can remember when I first start writing grants. I was so anxious every time I submitted a proposal. I had no idea at the time that this would become my career, and eventually my passion. Over time, however, I discovered the power and strength that the words I put on paper had. My words were able to convince companies and governments to dole out millions of dollars for some of the most amazing organizations around the globe. Those dollars brought substantive change, and had a true impact. It’s an unbelievable thing to think about, and the more grants I won, the more I began to appreciate grant writing as more of a highly skilled craft than a monotonous process.
Grant writing, though, is never easy. It’s an uphill battle for each and every proposal, but that is actually what makes grant writing so amazing. It tests the patience, persistence, and passion of each organization. It ensures that those with the most heart, deepest commitment, and intense drive rise to the top.
This is definitely not the last time I will be running a session like this, so please stay tuned for coming events. We have some really exciting things in store, and I cannot wait to share them with you!
Keep being amazing. Keep shooting for the stars. Above all, keep positivity at the forefront.
